Forrest Smoes - Freshman Forrest is a first
year high school cross country runner. Son of Dale and Jane Smoes.

As
a freshman, Forrest comes to our team with jr. high cross country experience
under his belt. He earned his way onto our team's 10 fastest freshman
lists for the 1st home meet of the year , the Charleston Invitational, the
Springfield Invitational, the Eureka FS Invitational, the Peoria Notre Dame
Invitational, the East Peoria Inviational, and the U-High Invitational.
He earned a medal at the Charleston Invitational by placing 18th with a time
of 16:51. His time was strong enough to be the fastest freshman time
we have had at the Charleston Invitational. He earned a medal at the
Sprinfield invitational by placing 3rd in the freshman 2 mile race.
His 2 mile was the fastest time posted by a Mahomet-Seymour runner at that
meet. He was a member of the freshman
meet championship team at the Springfield Invitational freshmen race.
Forrest
earned a medal at the Eureka FS invitational by placing 3rd where he lowered
his season best to a 16:37. He was a member of the Eureka FS Invitational
championship team. He ran a 3 mile personal best at the Peoria Notre
Dame Inviational with a time of 16:37. Forrest had another break
through at the East Peoria Invitational where he ran 3rd for our team with
a time of 16:25. He ran the fastest freshman time we have ever had
at this invitational. Forrest had another big break through at the
U-High Invitational where he ran a lifetime best of 16:06 making him the
fastest freshman we have had at that inviational. Forrest became the
fastest freshman at the Metamora Invitational by running another time in
the low 16's as well as earning a medal at this invitational. Forrest
got a stress fracture late in the season which held him out of the Regional
meet. Forrest had a ton of guts to run at Sectional despite the stress
fracture where he finished 5th for the team. Forrest won our team's fastest
freshman award. He earned his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross
Country Leaders List in September, October, and November. |
