Jonathan Schaap - Junior

Jonathan is a third year high school cross country runner and returning letterman.  Son of Paul and Lori Schaap.
   As a freshman, Jonathan brings many years of running experience under his belt.   Jonathan earned a medal at the Charleston Invitational by placing 14th.    He made his way onto our team's top ten fastest freshman ever list at our 1st home meet, the Charleston Invitational, the Springfiled Invitational, the Eureka Fresh/Soph Invitational, the Peoria ND Invitational, the East Peoria Invitational, the U-High Invitational, and the Metamora Invitational. He earned his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September and October.   He earned a medal at the Springfield 2 mile race by placing 1st as our 1st ever meet Champion at that meet.  He earned a medal at the Eureka Fresh/Soph Invitational by placing 6th.  Jonathan respresented his team by running the Regional and Sectional meets as a freshman.  He finished his freshman year by winning the fastest freshman award.
   As a sophomore, Jonathan came in very strong with running 500 miles in the summer.  Jonathan earned the honors of being a captain for his sophomore year.  The News Gazette selected Jonathan as one of the nifty fifty in their preseason polls.  He made his way onto our team's top ten fastest sophomore ever list at our 1st home meet, the Charleston Invitational, the Springfield Invitational, the Eureka FS Invitational, the PND Invitational,  the East Peoria Invitational, the U-High Invitational, and the Metamora Invitational.  Jonathan earned a medal at the Charleston Invitional by posting our team's fastest sophomore time ever of a 16:32. 
He went on to win the Eureka F/S Invitational with a time of 16:26.  He was part of the Eureka F/S Invitational meet championship team.  Jonathan ran a personal best at the East Peoria Invitational where he ran 2nd for our team with a time of 16:16.  Jonathan had a break through in his time at the U-High Invitational where he ran a 16:03.  He ran well enough at the Metamora Invitational to get onto our fastest sophomore list.  Jonathan had an excellent race at the Conference meet where he earned all-conference status by placing 10th.  Jonathan ran in the top 5 for our team at the Regional and Sectional meet.  Jonathan won our fastest sophomore award, our most improved fresh/soph award, our old dog 5 minute mile club, and most valuable fresh/soph runner award.  He earned his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September, October, and November.  Jonathan earned 2010 News Gazette All Area honors.
   As a junior, Jonathan ran 500 miles in the summer.  The News-Gazette selected him as one of their pre-season nifty fifty runners.  Jonathan opened the season by earning a medal at the Charleston Invitational by placing 10th with a time of 16:38.  Jonathan helped his team win the team championship at the Charleston Invitatinal by placing 3rd for the team.  Jonathan earned a spot on the top 10 fastest junior list at the Charleston Invitational.  Jonathan led our team at the Springfield invitational.  He ran the fastest time for our school in the history of running at the Springfield invitational with a 15:47.  This was the highest place (3rd) that we have ever had at this invitational.  Jonathan earned a spot on the top 10 fastest junior times at the Springfield Inviational by having the fastest junior time ever at this meet.  Jonathan earned his 3rd cross country letter in his 3 year high school career.  Jonathan ran a lifetime best at the Peoria Notre Dame invitational with a time of 15:38.  This earned him the fastest junior time at the PND invite.  Jonathan led our team to a victory at the East Peoria Invitational with a 15:18.  He earned a medal with the fastest time our team has ever had at this invitational where he placed 5th.  Jonathan
made his way onto the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders in September.  Jonathan ran the fastest time we have ever had run at the U-High invitational with a 15:24.  He earned his way onto our fastest time at the the U-High invitational.  He earned a medal at the U-High invite by placing 2nd.  He went on to have the fastest junior time ever at the Metamora invitational for our team.  He earned a medal by placing 11th.  He worked his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list for October.  Jonathan ran a sub 5 minute mile to become a member of the Old dog club in 2011.  Jonathan really went after it at the Conference meet and placed 4th.  He lead our team at the conference meet and earned the all-conference status for the 2nd year in a row.  Jonathan ran a solid race at our Regional meet.  He earned all-Regional status and a medal by placing 5th.  He helped to lead his team to a 1st place finish.  Jonathan won our team's fastest junior award for the 2011 season.  Jonathan led his team to a 2nd place finish at the Sectional meet.  He helped pull his team to qualifying or state for the first time in the history of our school as a AA team.  He earned the honor of being on the all-sectional team by placing 9th.  He worked his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list for November.  Jonathan ended his junior season by earning All-State status by placing 25th and leading his team to a 5th place team finish.  Jonathan ran the fastest time MS has ever had at State for a junior and the 2nd fastest time ever at State for all grades.  Jonathan won most valuable runner and the Bulldog award.
