Curt Kupferschmid - Sophomore

Curt is a second  year high school cross country runner and returning letterman.  Son of Chad and Linda Kupferschmid.
   As a freshman, Curt comes to our team with jr. high cross country experience under his belt.  He started his high school career with a solid time of 20:00 at the Charleston Invitational.  He was a member of the freshman meet championship team at the Springfield Invitational freshmen race.  Curt went on to have a drastic improvement at the Eureka F/S Invitational with a time of 18:32.  Curt earned a medal at the Eureka F/S Invitational by placing 20th.  Curt went on to run a 3 mile personal best at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  Curt continued to drastically improve at the East Peoria Invitational where he ran a 17:56.  He had another major break through at the U-High Invitational where he was our first open runner with a time of 17:16.  His 6th place finish was the highest open finish we have had at this invitational.  Curt earned enough Varsity letter points after the East Peoria Invitational that he got his first Varsity letter.  Curt earned a spot on our top 10 fastest freshmen list at the Eureka FS Invitational, the U-High Invitational, and the Metamora Invitational.  Curt ran our team's 8th fastest time at the Metamora Invitational placing him in our fastest freshman list.  He earned a spot on our team's regional roster his freshman year.  Curt ran an excellent race in the rain at the Regional meet.  He ran another personal best of 17:08.  Curt earned a spot on the News-Gazette's Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October and November.
   As a sophomore, Curt ran over 600 miles in the summer earning himself the honor of being captain.  Curt's first race as a sophomore was at the Springfield invittational.  Curt helped lead his team to a meet championship in the open race at the Springfield invitational.  This is the first time our team has won this meet in the history of our program.  Curt earned a medal and a place on our top 10 fastest times/places list for the Springfield invittational by placing 13th.  This was the 5th highest finish ever in the open race for our team.  Kurt helped his fresh/soph team to a 28th place at the Peoria ND Invitational.  He earned enough letter points to earn a varsity letter for the 2nd year in a row.  Curt had a big breakthrough at the East Peoria Invitational where he ran a 17:23 just narrowly missing our top 10 fastest sophomore times list.  Curt
made his way onto the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders in September.  Curt ran a season 3 mile best at the U-High invitational with a 17:53.  Curt's 10th place finish in the open race earned him a spot on the top times/place list for the U-High invitational.  Curt worked his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list for October.  Curt ended his sophomore with a major improvement.  Despite the 30 mph winds, Curt ran a lifetime best of 17:08 which placed him 5th in the open race at Conference.  Curt showed a lot of heart in the race and earned his way onto our team's state series roster his sophomore year.  He worked his way onto the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list for November.
