2014 News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September, October, & November
As a Freshman, Evan entered our program with junior high experience as a cross country runner.  He was one of the leaders on the junior high team that placed 7th in State.  Evan's biggest strengths in running is that he enjoys working hard and he enjoys running.  Evan ran a half marathon in junior high.  Evan took his summer training seriously.  Evan ran 300 miles to join our team's 300 mile club.  Evan's miles paid off as he could handle the tougher high school distances well.  Evan ran the fastest Buffalo trail run time ever run by a freshman in our early time trial.  He ran faster than many State qualifiers and State placers did in previous years.  Evan had a great season opener at the Charleston Invitational.  Evan ran an 18:26.  This earned him a spot on our team's fastest top freshman list for the Charleston Invitational.  He ranks 21st.  Evan ran one of the fastest freshman times on our South Mahomet course mid season.  His work ethic and passion for running indicate he will be a leader in the area for running soon.  Evan made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September.  Evan dominated in his second race at the Springfield Invitational freshman race.  Evan earned the runner up individual title only being beat by his fellow teammate.  Evan earned a medal for placing 2nd overall.  He helped lead his team to earning the Springfield Invitational freshman race team title.  His time of 11:11 was a lifetime best by 40 seconds.  His time also earned him the 9th fastest Mahomet freshman time ever run on that course.  Evan earned enough letter points after his Springfield race to earn his 1st high school varsity letter.  Evan ran a very impressive time at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He ran a 1 minute and 19 seconds lifetime best with a time of 17:07.  He barely missed the 16s and helped lead his freshman/soph team.  Evan had the second biggest improvement on our team for the meet.  He earned our team's most improved runner for the week as a result.  Evan's time was fastest enough to earn him the 15th fastest freshman time we have ever had at this meet.  Evan ran a solid race at the East Peoria Invitational despite not feeling well before the race.  Evan was able to gather up determination to still be able to run in the 17s again with a 17:38.  His time was fast enough to earn him a spot on our team's fastest top freshman times list for the East Peoria Invitational.  Evan made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October.  Evan showed great loyalty to his team making a trip to the Metamora Invitational to cheer on his team despite being injured and not being able to race.  This sort of loyalty and commitment to the team is very rare.  Evan made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in November.
