As a Freshman, Nate joins us with three years cross country experience at the junior high level.  At the junior high level he ended his 8th grade season as one of the top runners on a 7th in the State placing team which shows his ability as a runner.  Nate handled the adjustment to the harder high school workouts and longer runs with very smooth transition.  Nate opened his freshman season with a time of 20:34 at the Charleston Invite.  This solid first race reveals he is a talented runner who can run well against other team's varsity runners.  Nate ran an amazing race at the Springfield Invitational.  He worked his way up the field to place 14th.  This earned Nate his first high school cross country medal.  Nate's time was a 48 second improvement for his lifetime best.  Nate helped his team win the Springfield Invitational freshman team title.  Unfortunately due to a sprained ankle Nate wasn't able to race in the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  Nate had an amazing race at the East Peoria Invitational where he ran a lifetime best.  He broke into the 19s for the first time with a time of 19:58.  Nate had a 36 improvement from his previous best.  Nate earned enough letter points after the East Peoria Invitational to earn his first high school cross country Varsity letter.  Nate had an amazing race at the Metamora Invitational.  Nate had a 1 minute and 10 second improvement from his lifetime best to run a 18:48.  He broke into the 18s for the first time.  This time was fast enough to earn him a spot on our team's fastest freshman times list for the Metamora Invitational.  Nate ran a lifetime 3 mile best at the Conference meet with a 19:34.  His time was a 1 minute improvement from his previous 3 mile best.  He ended his freshman season well as a varsity letter winner and by running a personal best.  Nate also went on to earn his way onto the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders list in October.
