As a freshman, Andrew in with great experience from the junior high
level. Andrew ran 6th, 7th, and 8th grade cross country. He
was a part of the 8th grade team that placed 4th in State. Andrew
trained well in the summer. He ran 300 miles and joined our 300
mile club. His experience and determination showed in the early
season workouts as he often help onto the top pack full of our best and
oldest runners. He opened up his first week with one of the
fastest freshman 5 mile times we have had. Andrew opened up his
first high school race by placing 7th on our 9th ranked team in the
State. Andrew helped his team win the 13 team Charleston
Invitational. Andrew also helped our team run the fastest 7
runner
team average that we have ever had at the Charleston
Invitational.
His time of 17:17 placed him 6th on our fastest 15 top freshman times
list
for the Charleston Invitational. His place of 26th earned him his
first
high school medal. Andrew had a personal lifetime best at the
Springfield Invitational. He broke into the 10s for the first
time in the 2 mile. He led part of the race and ended up in an
impressive 2nd. He earned the runner-up medal in the freshman
race and helped lead his team to the freshman team championship.
He ran the 3rd fastest freshman time we have ever had placing him on
our team's top times list. He earned his first varsity letter
early in the season. Andrew also earned a spot on the
News-Gazette's prep cross country leaders list in September.
Andrew crushed his lifetime personal best at the Peoria Notre
Dame Invitational. He had a 44 second improvement to run a 16:34.
He joined our team's
16 minute all time list. Andrew placed 40th in the fresh/soph
race
which earned him a medal. Andrew helped pull his team to the
highest fresh/soph team finish we have ever had at this invitational.
Andrew's time earned him the 3rd highest freshman time we have
ever had at this invitational. Andrew ran 7th on his Varsity team
at the East Peoria Invitational. His team was ranked 2nd in State
that week. With his top 7 team finish they held the #2 ranking
the following week. Andrew had one of the
highest finishes of any Mahomet runner at this invitational.
Andrew's
time of 16:32 was a lifetime best on this challenging course. His
time
earned the 4th fastest Mahomet freshman time at this invite.
Andrew made his way onto the
News-Gazette's prep cross country leaders list in October. Andrew
broke 5 minutes
in the mile in a big way. He ran a 4:53 in order to earn himself
a
spot on our old dog club. Andrew ran 7th for our team at the
Metamora
Invitational. He helped his team win the invitational over 6
other
state ranked teams. Andrew helped our team run the fastest top 7
average
for a Mahomet team at this invitational. Andrew ran a lifetime
best
and broke into the 15s. He ran a 15:48. His time is the 3rd
fastest
for a freshman at this invitational. He is also the 4th fastest
freshman
that we have had in our program in the 44 year history of our
team.
We have only had 4 freshmen ever break 16:00 in that time.
Despite
being a slow course Andew ran a lifetime 3.0 mile best at the
Conference
meet with a 16:22. Andrew ran an amazing race and placed 4th for
his
team. He helped our team win the team championship for the first
time
in 28 years. If Andrew hadn't run 4th for the team on that day
then
our team would not have won. Andrew placed 8th in the Conference
meet
which earned him all-conference honors. He also earned his 4th
medal
for the season at conference. He has been in the top 7 for his
team
for the last month. In that time our team has earned 2nd in the
State
rankings each of those weeks. Andrew has been a major part of our
team
success. Andrew earned his way onto the News Gazette's prep cross
country
leaders list in November. Andrew ran a lifetime personal best 3
mile
time at the Sectional meet with a 15:55. He ran 5th for the team
and
helped his team win the Sectional meet. He became a State
Qualifier.
Andrew earned Illinois Elite status at the Sectional meet for his
performance
by dyestatil.com. Andrew had a lifetime best at the State meet
where he ran a 15:52. His time earned him the fastest freshman
time ever run by a Mahomet freshman at State. He also earned
Illinois Elite Status by dyestatil.com for his State performance.
Andrew ran 1st for his team and placed 62nd. Andrew earned the
fastest freshman award for our team for having the fastest freshman 3.0
mile of the season of 15:52. As a sophomore, Andrew came into the season stronger than ever. He increased his summer miles more than anyone on the team. He joined our 1000 York miles club. He earned the title of being captain for his sophomore year. Andrew's summer work paid off as he quickly moved up to running 2nd in almost every one of our practices. Andrew's early practice times were some of the top we have ever had on the training courses. He opened up his sophomore race season with a great race at the Charleston Invitational. He ran a 15:48 which was the 4th fastest time ever run by any Mahomet runner in the past 10 years. He earned the 2nd highest spot on our team's fastest sophomore times list for the Charleston Invitational. Andrew earned a medal by placing 4th overall and 2nd for the team. He helped his team run the fastest top 5 and fastest top 7 team average ever run by a Mahomet team at this invitational. Andrew earned Illinois elite status by dyestat for his Charleston performance. Andrew made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September. Andrew ran a lifetime best at the Springfield Invitational with a 15:40 on a wet and hilly course. Andrew placed 3rd in the 24 team invitational to earn a medal. Andrew helped his team run the fastest top 5 runner average, the fastest top 7 runner average, and the lowest team score at the Springfield Invitational. Andrew helped lead his team to win the Springfield Invitational team title. He earned Illinois elite status for his performance at the Springfield Invitational. He ran the 2nd fastest sophomore time ever for a Mahomet runner on this course. More impressive is that he earned the 14th fastest time ever run on this course by any runner from any school in any race since the 1970s. He earned enough letter points after the Springfield meet to earn his 2nd varsity high school cross country letter. Andrew earned his way into the Old Dog club again in 2014 by breaking 5 minutes in the mile. Andrew ran a 12 second lifetime best effort at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational. He ran a 15:28 which was fast enough to earn him a medal by placing 37th. Andrew earned the 2nd fastest sophomore time we have ever had run at the PND Invite. He earned US Top 100 Status by dyestat.com for his PND performance. Andrew helped lead his team to a 2nd place team finish beating 66 other teams, 19 State ranked teams, and 3 nationally ranked teams. He helped his team run the fastest top 5 and top 7 runner average we have ever had. Andrew was slightlty injured so we were cautious and held him out of the East Peoria Invitational. Andrew helped his team earn a National ranking of 36th for the week from his season best time. Andrew earned our team's scholar/athlete award for his strong academic success. Andrew made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October. Andrew came back to racing at the Metamora Invitational. He ran a solid race of 16:03 and placed in the top 7 for our team. He helped our team win the invitational and run the fastest top 7 runner average we have had at this invite. Andrew earned a medal by placing 38th. He also helped his team earn the ranking of 2nd in the State and 35th in the Nation the week after the Metamora Invitational. Andrew helped his team win the Conference meet for the second time in 29 years. He earned All-Conference honors for the second year by placing 9th. Despite being injured Andrew ran a solid time of 16:01. This was our 6th fastest Mahomet sophomore time run at the Conference meet in 45 years. He helped his team run the fastest top 7 average we have had at the Conference meet in 45 years. He improved 20 seconds from his 2013 Conference meet time. Andrew came back well at the Sectional meet. He ran 5th for the team with a time of 16:47. His time earned him the 4th fastest sophomore time on our team's fastest times list for the Sectional meet. Andrew helped his team win the Sectional meet. He helped them run the fastest top 5 runner average and top 7 runner average that any Mahomet team has run in 45 years. He became a two time State qualifier. He earned a spot on the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list in November. Andrew tied his lifetime 3 mile personal best at the State meet with a time of 15:28. He placed 41st. He ran the fastest time any Mahomet sophomore has ever run at State. He helped his team run the fastest top 5 and top 7 runner average we have had at State. He earned US top 100 elite status for his great time at State. He earned a medal and helped his team win the runner-up team trophy. Andrew earned our team's fastest sophomore award. |
