   As a freshman, Jack joined us after being part of the 8th grade XC team that placed 4th in State.  He ran three years of cross country in junior high.  Jack dedicated himself this summer to get in great shape when he ran over 300 miles.  He joined our team's 300 mile club.  He showed great intensity in practice as he always tried to run with the top group despite being the youngest.  Jack opened up his high school career by earning a medal in the Charleston Invitational by placing 3rd in the open race.  His high place also helped his team earn a perfect score in the open race.  He ran a great time of 17:25 which was fast enough to earn him a spot on our team's fastest top 15 freshman times list for the Charleston Invitational.  Jack made his way onto the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders in September.  Jack went on to earn a medal at the Springfield Invitational by placing 7th.  His time was 7th fastest freshman time we have ever had and it earned him a spot on our fastest times list for Springfield.  He earned enough letter points after his 2nd race to earn a varsity letter. Jack ran one of the fastest times ever by a MS freshman at the Peoria Notre Dame invitational.  He ran a 16:55 to earn a spot on our team's 16's list.  He also earned a spot on our team's fastest PND times list by being the 5th fastest freshman we have had at this meet.  He led his freshman/soph team to have one of the highest finishes we have had at this invite.  Jack ran another great time at the East Peoria Invitational with a 17:02.  This was the 8th fastest time we have ever had on this course by a freshman.  Jack ran a 17:36 on our home course at our 1 team Mahomet-Seymour Invitational.  This was the 9th fastest time that a freshman has run on our home course.  Jack made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October.  Jack ran another great time at the Metamora Invitational with a 17:06.  His time was the 6th fastest time we have ever had a freshman run on this course.  Jack ran a 17:15 on a wet course at the Conference meet.  He placed a very high 6th in the open race.
   As a sophomore, Jack joins us after running 500 miles in the summer.  He joined our team's 500 mile club.  Jack looks so much older, taller, stronger, and more confident than his freshman year.  His early season workouts were strong and in the top group.  Jack ran a great race at the Springfield invitational where he was runner-up.  We had never before had a runner from our team higher than 3rd in the open race.  Jack only got narrowly beat by his teammate.  Jack led his team to win the Springfield Invitational open team championship.  Jack's time was fast enough to earn him both a medal and a place on our team's fastest sophomore times list for this invitational.  Jack's time was fast enough to earn him a spot on the News Gazette's prep cross country leaders list in September.  Jack had the 7th fastest time for our team at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational with a 16:33.  He smashed his previous lifetime best.  He placed 39th and earned a medal against some of the toughest competition in the State in the freshman/soph race.  He earned the 8th fastest Mahomet sophomore time that we have had at this invite.  Jack earned enough letter points after this meet to earn his 2nd high school cross country varsity letter.  Jack ran another solid race at the East Peoria Invitational.  He ran a 16:44 on the challenging course.  His time earned him the 10th fastest Mahomet time at this race for a sophomore.  Jack
made his way onto the News-Gazette's prep cross country leaders list in October.  Jack ran his season best at the Metamora Invitational with a 16:15.  His time earned him the 4th fastest sophomore time on our team's fastest Metamora times list.  Jack had a tough run at the Conference meet.  He won the open race and became our team's first open champion in the history of our program in the conference meet.  Jack earned himself a spot competing on the State series team at the Regional meet.  Jack ran close to his season best at the Regional meet with a 16:39.  He placed 17th.  He helped his team win the Regional championship.  Jack also helped his team run the fastest top 7 average of any Mahomet team at the Regional meet in 44 years.  Jack placed in front of all 9 of the other team's #4 runners and in front of 8 of the team's #3 runners.  Jack helped us win the meet in a big way.  Jack also earned a spot on our fastest sophomore times list for the Regional meet.  Jack earned his way onto the News-Gazette's prep cross country leaders list in November.  Jack earned News Gazette All-Area as a sophomore.
    As a junior, Jack opened the season as one of the top runners in the State.  He ran 500 miles in the summer and joined our 500 mile club.  Jack became one of the most vocal leaders on his team and became the team's solid rock in races as he held a grueling and consistent pace.  Jack broke into the 15's at the first meet running a lifetime personal best at the Charleston Invitational.  He ran 4th for his team and 7th in the invitational.  Jack helped his team run the fastest top 5 runner and top 7 runner team average that our team had ever run at this invitational.  Jack earned a medal as well as Illinois elite status by dyestat for his performance at the Charleston Invitational.  Jack's time earned him the 4th fastest junior time ever for a Mahomet runner and earned him a spot on our fastest top junior list for the Charleston Invitational.  Jack
made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September.  Jack ran another lifetime best on a wet and hilly Springfield course.  Jack ran a 15:55 to place 7th overall.  He earned a medal for his high place.  He also earned a spot on our fastest top times list for juniors at the Springfield Invitational.  Jack earned Illinois elite status for his Springfield race performance.  Jack helped lead his team to the team title, the fastest top 5 runner average, the fastest top 7 runner average, and the lowest team score at this invitational.  He improved 1 minute and 21 seconds from his 2013 Springfield Invitational time which was the largest improvement on the team.  Jack earned enough letter points to earn his third varsity cross country letter.  Jack earned his way into the 2014 Old Dog Club by breaking 5 minutes in the mile.  Jack had the race of the day at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He ran a 28 second lifetime best and raced to 2nd on his team.  This was a 1 minute and 6 second improvement from his 2013 PND invite time.  Jack's time was fast enough to earn him US top 100 status by dyestat.com.  Jack helped lead his team to a 2nd place finish out of 68 teams.  He helped his team beat 19 state ranked teams and 3 nationally ranked teams in the process.  Jack's team became the 45th nationally ranked team as a result.  Jack earned the 5th fastest junior Mahomet time we have had on this course.  He placed 35th becoming one of the few Mahomet runners ever to earn a medal at this invite.  Jack helped his team run the fastest top 5 and top 7 runner average we have had at this invite.  Jack ran in the mid 15s again at the East Peoria Invitational to help his team win the invitational.  His time of 15:40 was fast enough to earn Illinois Elite status by dyestat.com.  His time also earned him the 4th fastest junior time for a Mahomet runner at this invitational.  Jack ran 3rd for his team and helped his team run the fastest top 5 runner average we have had at this invitational and the lowest team score we have had at this invitational.  Jack earned a medal by placing 8th.  He improved 1 minute and 4 seconds from his time at this invite just one year earlier.  Jack helped his team get ranked 36th nationally for the week.  Jack earned our team's scholar/athlete award for his strong academic success.  Jack made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October.  Jack ran a season best time at the Metamora Invitational where he ran a 15:12.  His time was the 3rd fastest time we have had for a junior on this course.  He placed 8th earning a medal.  He helped his team win the invitational against 7 other State ranked teams.  Jack helped our team run the fastest top 5 runner and top 7 runner average we have ever had at this invite.  He also helped our team earn a ranking of 2nd in State and 35th in the Nation the week after the Metamora race.  Jack ran a great race at the Conference meet where he earned a medal and all-conference status by placing 4th.  He helped his team win the Conference meet in a big way as they earned 7 of the top 10 spots.  He helped his team run the fastest top 5 runner average, the fastest top 7 runner average, and the lowest score at the Conference meet in 45 years with a score of 22.  Jack earned the 3rd fastest spot on our team's fastest times list for junior at the Conference meet in the past 45 years.  He earned Illinois Elite Status for his fast time.  He had such a strong season he earned a spot on our team's State meet roster.  Jack ran a lifetime 3 mile best at the Regional meet.  He showed his toughness as a runner as he beat out many of the top ranked runners in the State to place 5th in the meet.  This earned him All-Regional status and a medal.  Jack ran a 15:21 which was fast enough to earn him US top 100 status by dyestat.  Jack helped his team win the Regional meet.  He also helped them run the fastest top 5 runner and top 7 runner average in our 45 year history at the Regional meet.  Jack improved 1 minute and 18 seconds from his 2013 Regional time.  Jack ran a solid race at the Sectional meet.  He ran a time of 15:42.  This earned him the spot 6th on our team's fastest junior times list at the Sectional meet.  He helped his team win the Sectional meet.  He also helped his team run the fastest top 5 and top 7 runner average we have ever had at the Sectional meet.  He became a State Qaulifier.  Jack earned a spot on th News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in November.  Jack gave a great effort at the State meet on tired legs.  He managed to pull his teammates along while running a 15:37.  This was fast enough to earn him the 60th spot and the 5th fastest junior time that any Mahomet runner has had at the State meet.  Jack helped his team run the fastest top 5 runner and top 7 runner average we have ever had at the State meet.  Jack helped drive his team to winning our school's first team trophy in the 45 year history of our program.  Jack and his team earned a medal for placing second and brought home the runner up trophy.  Jack ended his junior year by winning the sportsmanship award for our team.  He also earned a spot on the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in November.
    As a senior, Jack entered the season with 500 miles from the summer.  He earned a spot on our team's 500 mile club.  Jack was recognized as being one of the top 100 returnees in the State as he had one of the top 100 fastest times run on Peoria last year by any runner in any class in the State.  Jack
earned a medal by placing 8th at the Charleston Invitational.  He helped his team win the invitational with 23 points.  He helped his team run the fastest top 5 runner and overall team average at the Charleston Invitational.  Brian's time of 16:14 earned him a spot on our team's 16 minute 3 mile club.  Jack earned the 5th spot on our teams fastest senior top times list for the Charleston Invitational.  He earned himself a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list in September.  Jack ran a season best at the Springfield Invitational with a time of 16:05 just missing the 15's.  He helped pull his teammate to a fast time as well.  He placed 11th overall.  He helped lead his team to the lowest score, lowest top 5 runner average, lowest top 7 average, and lowest total team average at this invitational by a Mahomet team.  He earned a medal with his 11th place finish.  He earned the 6th fastest spot on our top times list for seniors at this invitational.  He earned enough points to earn his forth high school cross country varsity letter.  Jack earned his way onto our sub 30 South Mahomet loop again as a senior.  Jack had an amazing race at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He cut off 32 seconds to run a season best time of 15:33.  His time helped our team run the fastest top 5 runner and top 7 runner average we have ever had at this meet.  He helped his team place 4th out of 69 teams.  He earned Illinois Elite status by dyestat for his performance.  He earned the 4th fastest spot on our team's fastest senior times list for the PND invite.  He earned a spot on our team's 15 minute 3 mile club.  Jack Hyde ran the 17th fastest senior time ever run by a Mahomet runner at any meet in 46 years.  Jack ran an excellent race at the East Peoria Invitational despite being a little injured.  Jack ran a 16:00 which earned him Illinois Elite status by dyestat.com.  He placed 10th earning himself a medal.  He helped his team win the invitational with the lowest top 7 runner average we have had.  Jack ran the 8th fastest senior time we have had at this meet.  He earned himself a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list in October.  Jack joined our Old Dog club by breaking 5 minutes in the mile.  Jack ran a season best time at the Metamora Invitational with a time of 15:16.  This earned him Illinois Elite status by dyestat.com.  His time earned him the 4th fastest Mahomet senior time on this course and the 9th fastest Mahomet senior time in any meet on any course in the past 46 years.  He improved 17 seconds from his season best.  Jack placed 10th overall helping his team win the invite and earning himself a medal.  He helped his team earn the lowest team score (26) and lowest top 7 runner average (15:07) of any Mahomet team at this invitational.  Jack helped our team win the Conference meet with an 8th place finish.  He earned All-Conference honors by placing in the top 10.  He earned a medal for his high place.  He ran a 15:34 which was the 5th fastest senior time we have ever had at the Conference meet in the past 46 years.  Jack made our team's State series roster.  Jack ran very well at the Regional meet.  He placed 7th with a time of 15:37.  He helped his team win the Regional meet with the lowest top 7 runner average we have had in 46 years.  He ran the 7th fastest senior time we have had in 46 years in the Regional meet.  He earned Illinois Elite status by dyestat for his race time.  Jack is a great runner, but will be more remembered for his character.  One parent commented at the Sectional meet that Jack was a great leader for the team and he was a young man with great character.  A title and reputation worth far more than a medal for racing well.  Jack also earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in November.  Jack earned out team's scholar athlete award for his great grades the previous year.  Jack won the sportsmanship award for the 2nd year in a row.  His teammates also voted for him to earn the team spirit award.  Jack pulled through in a big way at the State meet.  He ran what would be his best performance of the year and a season best 3 mile time of 15:30.  He was a solid leader in a stressful situtation to carry his team vocally through the race.  He helped his team win the 2nd place trophy.  He helped his team run the lowest top 5 runner average at State we have had.  He helped us score the lowest points we have ever had at State.  He earned Illinois Elite status for his time.  He earned the 8th spot on our team's fastest times list at State.  He ran 7 seconds faster than he did at the 2014 State meet.  He will go down in our history as a tremendous leader with exceptional talent.  Jack  and his teammates earned at medal at the State meet for placing 2nd.
