   As a freshman, Alex came in with great junior high running experience.  He ran both 7th and 8th grade cross country.  He was the leader of the 8th grade team that placed 4th in State.  He ran over 500 miles in the summer to earn a spot on our team's 500 mile club.  He opened up his race career by placing at the Charleston Invitational and helping his team win the team title.  Alex earned a medal at the Charleston Invite with a time of 16:30.  His time was the fastest freshman time we have ever had at this meet which earned him a spot on our fastest top freshman times lists for the Charleston Invitational.  He earned a high spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September.  In practice he earned a spot on our team's sub 30 South Mahomet Loop Club with breaking 30 minutes in the 5 mile run.  He went on to win the Springfield Freshman Invitational Race with a 10:30.  This is the fastest time of any runner from any team that we have records of.  We have attended the meet since 2004.  Alex earned the top spot on our fastest freshman list for the Springfield Invitational.  He earned enough varsity letter points after this meet to earn his first varsity letter.  Alex had a big lifetime best at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational with a 15:46.  Alex placed in the top 100 which we have had only 10 runners do in the 13 year history of MS going to this meet.  Alex ran the fastest freshman time we have ever had at this invitational.  He earned Illinois elite status by dyestatil.com for his fast time.  Alex ran in the 15's again at the East Peoria Invitational.  He earned a medal by placing 15th with a 15:54.  This was the fastest time any MS runner has ever run as a freshman at this course.  Alex earned elite status by dyestat for his performance.  Alex helped his team win the invitational.  Alex ran the fastest time we have ever had a freshman run on our home course at our 1 team invitational with a 16:07.  Alex also earned a spot on our old dog club by breaking 5 minutes in the mile.  Alex made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October.  Alex ran in the mid 15s at the Metamora Invitational with a 15:36.  He broke our freshman record for this invitational.  He ran 4th for his team and helped his team win the invitational for the first time.  He earned a medal by placing 15th.  Alex ran in the 15s again at the Conference meet with a 15:55.  He placed 11th and helped his team place 2nd as a team.  He earned elite status by dyestat for his performance.  Alex placed an impressive 7th at the Regional meet with a time of 16:02  He helped his team win the Regional title.  He earned a top 10 regional spot.  Alex became our 5th freshman in the history of our program to qualify for State.   Alex placed 126th in the State meet running a 16:01.  This was the fastest freshman that any MS runner has run at the State meet.  He was one of the fastest freshmen at the State meet. 
    As a sophomore, Alex drastically increased his summer miles to 1000.  He joined our 1000 mile club and 1000 York mile club.  He also earned the title of team captain.  Alex led all of our team's early workouts.  He broke our 5 mile course time trial record.  He ran more summer miles than any sophomore we have had.  He is the 49th fastest returning runner in the State.  He is really taking off this season with a big boost in confidence from last year.  Alex opened the season with a 2nd place finish at the Charleston Invitational.  He ran a 15:36.  This was the fastest time any Mahomet runner has run at this meet.  Alex earned the top spot on our team's fastest top 15 sophomore times list for the Charleston Invitational.  He earned his first medal of the season.  dyestatil.com gave him IL elite status for his impressive performance.  Alex came back with another season best of 15:33 at the Springfield Invitational.  He was runner-up in the invitational and helped lead his team to the team championship.  His time is the fastest sophomore time we have ever had at this invite and the 2nd fastest time we have had for any grade.  He also made the fastest sophomore list for any runner from any school since the 1970s on that course.  He made 10th on their list.  He earned a medal and dyestatil.com gave him elite status for his race.  The News-Gazette placed him on their prep cross country leaders list for September.  He earned his second varsity cross country letter early in the season. Alex had another break through at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He improved 28 seconds to run a lifetime best of 15:05.  This placed him 19th and helped him earn a medal.  This is the 2nd highest finish any Mahomet runner has had at this invite.  His time is the fastest sophomore time ever by a Mahomet runner in any race in the 40 plus year history of our program.  Alex had the fastest sophomore time ever at this meet by a Mahomet runner by 53 seconds.  He earned IL elite status for this race by dyestatil.com.  He had the 37th fastest time of any Illinois runner in any race so far this year with that performance. Alex ran his strongest mental race of the season at the East Peoria Invitational.  He ran a 15:12 and was runner up in the invitational.  He ran the fastest Mahomet sophomore time ever for this invite by 40 seconds.  He helped pull his team to the team championship.  Alex earned US top 100 status by dyestatil.com for his East Peoria effort.  Alex
made his way onto the News-Gazette's prep cross country leaders list in October.  Alex broke into the 14's for the first time at the Metamora Invitational.  He was runner up in the meet and only got beat by 6 seconds by the returning state champ.  Alex became only the 6th runner from Mahomet ever to break into the 14s.  He is the first sophomore to break the 15:00 barrier.  Alex earned a medal at the Metamora Invitational and the top spot on our team's fastest sophomore list.  He became the fastest Mahomet sophomore in our 44 year history.  Alex helped his team win the conference meet for the first time in 28 years.  He was runner up and earned all-conference status.  He also earned Il elite status for his conference time.  Alex ran the fastest Mahomet sophomore time ever at the conference meet.  Alex was runner-up in the Regional meet.  He earned a medal and All-Regional honors by placing in the top 5.  He helped his team win the Regional championship.  Alex ran the fastest time of any Mahomet sophomore in 44 years of running in the Regional meet.  Alex earned US top 100 honors by dyestatil.com for his Regional performance.  He helped his team score the lowest ever and the fastest top 7 average of any Mahomet team in a Regional meet.  Alex earned the honor of the Mahomet Citizen athlete of the week on October 31, 2013.  Alex had a solid race at the Sectional meet despite being sick.  He ran a 15:24 to run the fastest sophomore time of any Mahomet runner at the Sectional meet.  He earned a medal and all-sectional status by placing 4th.  He helped lead his team to a Sectional title.  Alex earned US top 100 status for his performance at the Sectional meet.  Alex earned his way onto the News-Gazette's prep cross country leaders list in November.  Alex ended his season at State with a did not finish.  Despite being sick for almost two weeks and having missed the day before the state meet from school with a 101 temperature, Alex still had the guts to try to race at State.  With chills, a fever, and cold sweats Alex ended up dropping out after the mile.  As with all great runners, you can't be on top of your game every race year round.  Alex earned the fastest sophomore award for the 2013 season.  Alex earned our team's most valuable runner award for the 2013 season.  Alex earned the Bulldog award for the 2013 season.
    As a junior, Alex enters the fall after becoming a State placer in track his sophomore year.  He broke our school record in the 2 mile and placed 5th in State.  Alex earned a spot on our 1000 York Mile club again as a junior.  Alex earned the title of being captain for the second year.  Alex came out stronger than ever breaking all of our practice course records in early practices.  He opened up his season by placing 2nd at the Charleston Invitational.  He broke the previous course record by 9 seconds but got clipped by 1 second.  Alex ran a 14:58 breaking the 15:00 barrier for the first time ever for a 3 mile course.  Alex got ranked 6th in the State for all classes for the week for this time.  He entered the season being ranked in the top 5 runners by Il.Milesplit.com and dyestatil.com.  Both organizations recognize his potential.  Alex's Charleston Invite performance earned him US top 100 elite status by dyestat.  Alex ran the fastest Charleston time ever by a Mahomet runner.  He smashed our junior record by 50 seconds.  He earned a medal and
made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September. Alex won his first major cross country invitational at the 25 team Springfield Invitational.  He ran the fastest time we have seen in over 11 years.  He ran the 2nd fastest time ever run by any junior from any high school on this course in over 40 years.  Alex earned a medal and US top 100 status by dyestat for his Springfield performance.  Alex ran our team's fastest junior time ever on this course and fastest Mahomet runner time ever on this course.  Alex helped lead his team to the lowest score ever run on this course, the fastest top 5 runner average, and the fastest top 7 runner average for this invitational.  Alex earned his 3rd XC Varsity letter at this meet.  Alex earned Old Dog status again for the 3rd year by breaking 5 minutes in the mile.  Alex was featured by the News Gazette as athlete of the week for September 17, 2014.  Alex ran an incredible race at the 553 runner Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He placed 5th and ran fast enough to run the 38th fastest 3 mile time in the nation for the season.  He ran a 14:41 and tied our school record set by Mark Johnson in 1974.  Alex wasn't intimidated by the nationally ranked runners and teams.  He helped pull his team to the highest team finish, fastest top 5 runner average, and fastest top 7 runner average we have ever had at this invitational.  His team placed 2nd beating out 19 state ranked teams and 3 nationally ranked teams.  He ran a 17 second lifetime best.  He ran our fastest time ever at this invitational.  He ran the 4th fastest time ever run on that course in decades and decades for any runner in the Pantagraph newspaper area.  He earned a medal by placing 5th.  Alex earned US top 100 elite status again for the PND invite time.  Alex helped pull his team to being ranked 45th in the nation.  Alex earned National Silver standard by il.milesplit.com for his PND effort.  Alex broke into the 14s again running away from the field with a 14:51.  This was his 2nd high school cross country invitational win.  They have only had 4 runners in the past 11 years run in the 14s at this invitational.  Alex ran a 14:51 earning him US top 100 status for his performance.  He ran the fastest time any Mahomet runner has ever run on this course.  He helped lead his team to win the invitational.  He also helped his team run the fastest top 5 runner average and lowest team score ever done by a Mahomet team at this invite.  His time was a 21 second improvement from his race just one year ago at East Peoria.  He helped his team earn a ranking of 36th in the nation for the week.  He earned a 43rd individual rankings for the week in the nation.  Alex was named the Mahomet Citizen Athlete of the Week for October 2, 2014.  Alex earned our team's scholar/athlete award for his strong academic success.  Alex made his way onto the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October.  Alex ran a strong race at the Metamora Invitational despite being sick.  He was the Invitational champion at the Metamora Invitational with a time of 14:51.  His time was the 26th fastest time at this invite since the 1970s from any runner from any team.  Alex ran the fastest junior time we have had run at this course.  He won a medal for winning the invite.  He helped his team run the fastest top 5 and top 7 average we have ever run at this meet.  Alex was still ranked in the top 50 three mile times in the nation this week.  Alex won the Conference meet with a 15:13.  He earned US top 100 Status for his fast time on a slow course.  Alex helped lead his team to win the Conference meet.  He helped his team run the fastest top 5 runner average, top 7 runner average, and lowest team score at the Conference meet in 45 years.  He earned the 2nd spot on our team's fastest junior list at the Conference meet.  He earned a medal and all-conference status for the second year in a row.  He improved 25 seconds from his time at the 2013 conference meet.  He earned a spot on our team's State meet roster.  Alex won the Regional meet with a time of 15:05.  This was the fastest Regional time run in the State.  Alex helped lead his team to win the Regional meet with our team's fastest top 5 and top 7 runner average we have had in 45 years of running at the Regional meet.  Alex earned US top 100 status for his Regional time by dyestat.  Alex improved 24 seconds from his 2013 Regional time.  He ran the fastest junior time we have had at the Regional meet in 45 years.  Alex ran another smooth race to win the Sectional meet.  He became the 2nd Sectional meet champion in our 45 year program's history.  He helped his team win the Sectional meet for the third year in a row.  He helped his team run the fastest top 5 and top 7 runner average we have had at the Sectional meet.  He helped his team qualify for the State meet.  Alex ran a 15:01 at the Sectional meet.  He earned All-Sectional status.  This is the fastest junior time our program has ever had at the Sectional meet.  Alex ran another strong race at the State meet.  He ran his second fastest time with a 14:49.  He beat some the State's best runners to place 4th.  He earned All-State status.  He helped lead his team to a 2nd place finish.  This was the first time in our 45 year program's history that our team won a State trophy.  Alex helped his team run the fastest top 5 and top 7 runner average.  He ran the fastest junior time at the State meet.  Alex earned a spot on the News Gazette Prep Cross Country leaders list in November.  Alex earned our team's flying Dutchman award by placing by being All-Conference, All-Regional, All-Sectional, and All-State.  He earned our team's most valuable runner award his junior year.  Alex earned our team's bulldog award his junior year.  Alex earned 1st team News Gazette All-area team his junior year.
    As a senior, Alex came in with a #3 ranking in the pre-season predictions by www.Il.MileSplit.com.  Alex was also ranked as one of the top individuals in the dyestatil.com pre-season rankings.  Alex ran over 900 miles in the summer of his senior year.  He earned a spot on our team's 900 mile club and 1000 York mile club for his summer running.  Alex earned the honor of being a captain for the 3rd season.  He entered the season with the 10th fastest returning time of any class for a time run at Peoria.  Alex opened his season in a big way.  He broke the course record at the Charleston Invitational as he won the 13 team invitational.  He ran a 14:52.  He became the first Mahomet runner in our half century history to break into the 14s for three years in a row.  He ran the third fastest time in the State of any class for the season.  Alex was not only meet champion but helped his team win the meet and run the fastest top 5 runner average we have run at this invite.  He ran the fastest Mahomet senior time on the course by almost a minute.  He earned the first place medal.

He earned his way onto our team's Old Dog club as a senior.  Alex ran away with the meet championship at the Springfield Invitational.  He ran a 14:54 on a very challenging course.  Only 8 runners from any school in any meet throughout the season to have ever broken into the 14s on this challenging course.  Alex was only the 2nd in 49 years to break into the 14s at this invitational from any school.  He ran our team's fastest time ever on this course.  He won the championship medal as well as helped his team win the meet.  He helped lead his team to the lowest score, lowest top 5 runner average, lowest top 7 average, and lowest total team average at this invitational by a Mahomet team.  He earned US top 100 Status by dyestat.com for his Springfield race.  He earned enough points to earn his forth high school cross country varsity letter. Alex earned his way onto our sub 30 South Mahomet loop again as a senior.  Alex ran a great time at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He ran a 14:36.0 which was a 16 second season best time.  His time lowered his school record by 5 seconds.  He placed 6th in the major invitational and earned a medal for his race.  He earned the #1 spot on our team's fastest times list for the PND invitational.  He earned US top 100 status by dyestat.com for his PND race.  He ran the fastest senior time ever run by a Mahomet runner at any meet in 46 years.  He helped his team run the fastest top 5 runner and top 7 runner average we have ever had at this meet.  Alex ran an impressive race at the East Peoria Invitational. Despite having no one push him he still ran a 14:48.  He ran the fastest that any Mahomet runner has ever run on this course.  Alex won the invitational and helped his team win the invitational.  Alex earned US top 100 Status by dyestat.com for his East Peoria race.  He helped his team win the meet with Mahomet's lowest team score and top 5 runner average we have had at this meet.  He is currently ranked 22nd in the nation in the 3 mile.  He earned himself a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list in October.  Alex became the only runner to ever break into the 14s on our home course which he did in a practice.  Alex ran a 14:37.7 at the Metamora Invitational.  This earned him US top 100 status by dyestat.com.  His time earned him the fastest Mahomet senior time on this course.  He improved 17 seconds from his season best.  Alex was meet champion helping his team win the invite and earning himself a medal.  He helped his team earn the lowest team score (26) and lowest top 7 runner average (15:07) of any Mahomet team at this invitational.  Alex ran the 8th fastest time ever run by any runner from any team at any meet on this course since the 1970s.   Alex went on to win the Cornbelt Conference meet with a 14:36.8.  This set the Cornbelt Conference meet record which has been run since the 1970s.  He also set the Eureka course record.  He helped his team win with the lowest 5 runner and overall team average we have had.  He earned All-Conference status and a medal for placing 1st.  He earned the fastest time ever run by a Mahomet runner at the conference meet.  Alex went on to earn the News Gazette Athlete of the week and the Mahomet Citizen Athlete of the week honors the next week.  Alex ran a 15:02 in the Regional meet.  This was the second fastest time Mahomet has had in the Regional meet in the past 4 decades.  Alex placed second earning him a medal and All-Regional honors.  He helped lead his team to the win and to running the fastest top 7 runner average we have had at the regional meet in 46 years.  He improved 3 seconds from his 2014 regional time.  He earned the 2nd fastest spot on our team's top senior times list for the regional meet.  He earned Illinois Elite status by dyestat for his race time.  Alex ran a smart race at the Sectional meet.  He placed 2nd with a 15:24.  He earned a medal and all-sectional honors for placing in the top 10.  He ran the 4th fastest senior time for a Mahomet runner at the Sectional meet in our history.  He helped his team win the meet for the 4th year in a row which made him one of the few runners to ever be a four time State qualifier.  He earned Illinois Elite status by dyestat for his race time.  Alex also earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in November.  Alex earned out team's scholar athlete award for his great grades the previous year.  Alex earned our team's most consecutive days in a row award.  Alex earned our flying Dutchman award for being All-Conference, All-Regional, All-Sectional, and All-State.  Alex won the fastest senior award.  Alex won our most valuable runner award.  Alex won our bulldog award for the third year.  Alex gave his heart at the State meet.  While he fell short of his individual goal he gave his heart to his teammates by gutting through the race.  He placed 16th to earn All-State honors for the second year in a row.  He earned Il Elite Status for his time and the 3rd post on our team's fastest senior times list at State.  Alex showed his caring heart as he helped his team win the 2nd place team trophy.  He earned a medal for being All-State and for his team placing.  He will go down in history as one of the greatest runners in the State breaking many course and meet records along the way.
