As a freshman, Avery joins our team with junior high cross country and track experience.  Avery had a great summer of training before his freshman season.  He ran over 400 miles in the summer to earn our team's 400 mile club award.  He ran the 7th most amount of summer miles of any freshman we have had.  He opened up his freshman year with a time of 20:50 at the Charleston Invitational.  He placed 75th in the varsity race at the Charleston Invitational.  Avery had a huge improvement in his second race.  He cut off nearly a minute to run a 19:51.  He placed 29th in the Monticello triangular meet. Avery helped our fresh/soph team place 15th at the Peoria Notre Dame invitational.  He ran a 20:37 to place 328th in the race.  Avery had a big improvement at the East Peoria Invitational.  He ran 2nd for his fresh/soph team helping lead them to a 4th place team finish.  Avery ran a 18:36 for a season best.  It was a 75 second improvement from his previous season best.  He earned enough varsity letter points after the East Peoria Invite to earn his first high school varsity letter.  Avery ran strong enough to earn the 36th fastest spot on our team's fastest freshmen times list for the East Peoria Invitational. Avery earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October.  Avery ran a 19:28 at the Metamora Invitational.  This was strong enough to earn the 36th spot on our team's fastest freshman times list at the Metamora Invitational.  Avery ran a 19:53 at the conference meet on a super hilly course.  He ran well showing he is a tough runner on even the most challenging courses.  He made the State meet roster for his freshman year. Avery earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in November.
