   As a freshman, David joins our team with junior high cross country and track experience.  He was a state qualifier in cross country his 7th grade year.  David stepped right into running strong in our early practices.  He ran  over 400 miles in the summer before his freshman year to join our 400 mile club.  David had a great start  to his high school cross country career.  He ran a strong time of 18:51to place 78th in the 13 team invitational.  He was the 6th fastest freshman in the varsity invitational.  He helped his team win the invitational.  He showed he is a strong runner with great potential in this sport.  David earned a spot on our team's fastest top freshman times list for the Charleston Invitational.  David earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list in September.  David represented our team well at the Springfield Invitational.  He placed 8th and earned a medal for his high place.  He showed great determination in the race as he passed up runners along the way.  David ran strong enough to earn himself a spot on our team's fastest freshman top times list at the Springfield Invitational.  David ran a lifetime best at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational despite it being a slow course due to the wet ground.  David cut off 9 seconds to run a 18:42.  His time helped our team run the fastest overall team average we have had at this meet in the 17 years we have gone to this meet.  David placed 65th in the 70 team invitational in the open race.  His place earned him the 7th highest place our team has ever earned in the open race.  David earned enough letter points after the PND Invite to earn his first high school varsity letter.  David had a season best at the East Peoria Invitational.  He ran a 18:14.  His time earned him a spot on our team's fastest freshman times list for the East Peoria Invitational.  David ran 5th for his fresh/soph team helping them win the 21 team invitational.  He placed 15th overall earning his second high school cross country medal.  He became one of our 12 Mahomet runners in 12 years to earn a medal in the fresh/soph race at this invite.  David ran a lifetime best of 17:09 at the Metamora Invitational.  David improved by over a minute to run such a great time.  His teammates were singing him praises all week in practice for improving so much.  He earned the 18th spot on our team's fastest freshman times list at the Metamora Invitational.  He earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list in October.  David had another great race at the conference meet.  He ran 17:12 for a lifetime best.  This beat his previous 3 mile best by 90 seconds.  David ran the 3rd fastest freshman time in the meet of any school.  He placed 14th in the open race.  David earned the 22nd spot on our team's fastest freshman times list in the past 47 years.  David earned our team's fastest freshman award.  David also earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in November.  He earned a medal for being part of our State championship team.  David earned a spot on the final News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list in December.

   As a sophomore, David ran 600 miles in the summer.  His dedication helped him to quickly climb to the top of our team in his sophomore year.  David earned a spot on our team's 600 mile club.  He opened up his sophomore year by running a 17:29 at the Charleston Invitational.  He placed 32nd in the 13 team meet.  He earned a medal for his high place.  He earned the 18th fastest spot on our fastest sophomore times list for the Charleston Invitational.  David went on to run well again at the more challenging Springfield Invitational course.  He ran for the front pack in the open race and finished 6th.  This was one of the highest places our school has had.  David earned a medal for his high place as he led his team.  He earned the 38th spot on our fastest sophomore times list at the Springfield Invitational.  He earned enough points after his second race to earn his second high school varsity cross country letter.  He earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September.  David lead his team in the open race at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  The high heat slowed everyone's times down.  David still managed to run a 18:23.  He was 9th for the team, but nearly identical in time to our 7th runner.  David improved 19 seconds from his last year's PND Invite time.  David ran slightly injured at the East Peoria Invitational.  He still managed to run a 19:17.  His time earned him the 35th spot on our team's fastest sophomore times list at the East Peoria Invitational.  David also earned our team's scholar/athlete award his sophomore year due to his strong grades.  David ran a 18:33 at the Metamora Invitational.  This was fast enough to earn him the 30th spot on our team's fastest sophomore times list at the Metamora Invitational.  David ran a 18:48 on a slow course at Conference.  He placed 36th in the Conference meet.  He earned a spot on our team's State meet roster his sophomore year.
  He earned a spot on the News Gazette Area Cross Country Leaders List in October.  He earned a spot on the News Gazette Area Cross Country Leaders List in November.  He earned a medal for being part of our State championship team.  David won our team's fastest sophomore runner award.  David won our team's most improved fresh/soph runner award.  David won our team's most valuable fresh/soph runner award.

   As a junior, David came into the season working through some injuries.  He held himself out of the first meet to stay healthy for later in the season.  David was in our top seven runners at the Monticello triangular meet.  He helped our team beat the #2 State ranked A school.  David ran a 18:27 to place 14th in the meet. David made the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders list in September. David had a 33 second improvement for the season at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He broke into the 17s with a 17:54.  He ran 3rd for the varsity team helping them place 35th as a team.  He finished 311th overall.  His time earned him the 38th spot on our team's fastest top junior times list for the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  David earned his third high school cross country varsity letter after the PND meet.  David had a large improvement at the East Peoria Invitational.  He helped his team win the third place trophy with his time of 17:22.  It was a 33 second season personal best.  It was a 1 minute and 55 second improvement from his time at this meet last year.  He earned a spot on our team's fastest junior times list at this invite.  David earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October.  David helped his team earn the 4th place trophy at the Metamora Invitational.  He placed 6th for his team with a time of 17:27.  This was a 66 second improvement from last year's Metamora meet.  David ran 4th for our team at the conference meet helping his team earn the runner-up team spot.  David ran tough the whole race and placed 13th overall.  He ran a 18:03 on a most hilly course.  He earned a spot on our team's State team roster his junior year. Despite being injured David ran a solid race at the Regional meet to help his team qualify for the Sectional meet.  He has proven himself to be quite a leader and devoted runner for the team.  David ran a valiant race at the Sectional meet.  Despite being injured he made an attempt to run in the meet for the team.  David won our team's fastest junior award his junior year.

   As a senior, David opened up his season at the Springfield Invitational.  He ran 3rd for our JV team and helped our team place 5th.  He ran a 20:26 for a solid first time out for the season coming off an injury. David had a big breakthrough at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He cut off 2 minutes and 33 seconds from his season best to break into the 17s.  He ran a 17:55.  David helped pull his teammate along to their personal best.  He showed great leadership.  David earned enough points after this meet to earn his varsity letter.  He became one of the few athletes to get a four year letter. David
ran fast enough to earn a spot on the News Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in September.  David ran an amazing time on our very challenging home course at the Conference meet.  He ran a 17:56.  This was a 6 minute improvement from his last year's conference time.  David earned a spot on the News-Gazette prep cross country leaders list in October.  David earned a spot on our team's State series roster for his senior year.  David ran with great determination in the Regional meet.  He gave his best effort to the team when they needed him most.  He ran his season best time of 17:44 to help our team qualify for the Sectional meet.  David won our team's fastest senior award as a senior.
