As
a Junior, Nick
entered our program after being one of
the top runners from his junior high
cross country and high school track
teams. Nick led our team in his first
invitational. He ran a 17:00
which was fast enough to earn him a
spot on our fastest junior times list
for the Charleston Invitational.
He earned a medal for his high
place. Nick earned a spot on the
News Gazette's prep cross country
leaders list in September. Nick
helped our team place 6th at the
Springfield Invitational out of 20
plus teams. Nick showed amazing
toughness by getting up after taking a
hard fall in the race. Despite
this he still ran a 18:11. This
time was fast enough to earn him the
35th spot on our team's fastest top
junior times list at the Springfield
Invitational. Nick earned
a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross
Country Leaders List in October. Nick
tied his personal best at the U-High
Invitational. He ran a 17:00 to
help his team place 2nd in the 14 team
invitational. Nick's time was
fast enough to earn him the 11th spot
on our team's fastest top junior times
list for the U-High
Invitational. Nick had a big
breakthrough at the Metamora
Invitational. He improved 57
seconds to run a 16:03. He
earned a spot on our team's 16 minute
3 mile club. He placed 33rd in
the meet and earned himself a
medal. He helped his team place
3rd in the 29 team invitational.
Nick earned the 19th spot on our
team's fastest junior times list at
the Metamora Invitational. He
ran the 41st fastest time of any
junior from Mahomet has ever run in
any meet in the 50 year history of our
program. Nick ran a lifetime
best at the Conference meet with a
16:45 on a true 3 mile course.
He placed 7th in the meet which earned
him a medal and All-Conference
honors. He helped his team win
the meet. Nick earned the 37th
spot on our team's fastest junior
times list at the Conference
meet. He earned a spot on our
team's State series roster. Nick
broke into the 15s for the first time
at the Regional meet. He earned
our team's 15 minute 3 mile club
award. He ran a 15:45 which
earned him the 10th spot on our
fastest junior times list at the
Regional meet. He helped our
team qualify for the Sectional
meet. Nick ran a 16:03 on
a very wet Sectional course. His
time was his fastest 3 mile time by 41
seconds. It was fast enough to
earn him the 19th spot on our team's
fastest top junior times list for the
Sectional meet. He placed 11th
overall and helped our team qualify
for State. Nick ended his junior
season by running first for the
team. He ran a lifetime best
true 3 mile time with a 15:49.
He improved 15 seconds at the right
time. He placed 47th to help his
team place 11th. His time was
fast enough to run the 16th
fastest junior time by a Mahomet
runner at the State meet in the past
50 years. He earned the team's
fastest junior award. He earned
the team's fastest new runner award.
Nick earned
News-Gazette All-Area Special mention
honors in 2019. As a senior, Nick entered the season as one of the top returning runners in AA in the State. Ilxctf.com wrote about Nick being one of the top returners in the State. Nick came into the season with significantly more confidence and strength as a runner. He attacked the early workouts with determination. Nick opened the season at the Conference meet. He ran a 17:31 which was a strong time considering he lost so much time due to an injury. He showed great desire to even run the race. He helped his team win the open race with a perfect score. They placed 1st through 7th place. Nick earned a spot on our team's fastest top senior times list for the Conference meet. Nick finished the year with a 18:18 at the Monticello Invitational. He helped his team win the open race. Nick was quite the addition to our team with his speed and personality for the two seasons we got him on the team. He earned a varsity letter his senior year. |
