As
a freshman, Ben joined us with running
experience at the junior high
level. Ben worked very hard for
months before joining our team showing
great determination. He ran
enough miles to earn a spot on our 400
mile club. He ran well in his
first high school invite. He ran
a 19:19. This was fast enough to
earn him a spot on our team's fastest
top freshman times list for the
Charleston Invitational. Ben
earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep
Cross Country Leaders List in
September. en ran a very tough
mentally intense race at the
Springfield Invitational. He
fought hard for the second half of the
race to hold off a large pack of
runners. In the process he broke
the other runners' spirits. He
won a medal with his effort by placing
9th. He ran a time of 12:28
which was his lifetime best. Ben
is constantly one of the hardest
workers in practice each day.
Ben's time was was enough to earn him
a spot on our team's fastest top
freshman times list of the Springfield
Invitational. Ben had a personal best
at the Peoria Notre Dame
Invitational. He cut off 40
seconds from his season best to run in
the 18s for the first time. He
ran a 18:39. Ben was the first
runner on our team in the open race
which is quite impressive for a
freshman. Ben's time earned him
the 39th spot on our team's fastest
top times list at the Peoria Notre
Dame Meet for freshman. Ben's
place was the 15th best place our team
has had since 2000 in the open race.
Ben had a 32 second improvement at the
U-High Invitational. He ran
18:07 which was fast enough to earn
him the 13th spot on our fastest
freshman top times list at the U-High
Invitational. Ben cut another 5
seconds off his time at the Metamora
Invitational to ran a 18:02.
This was fast enough to earn him the
30th spot on our team's fastest
freshman top times list at the
Metamora Invitational. Ben
earned a spot on the News-Gazette
leaders list in October. Ben ran
a very solid time at the Conference
meet. He ran a 18:43 on a very
challenging course. His time
earned him the 43rd spot on our team's
fastest freshman top times list for
the conference meet. He earned a
spot on our State series roster his
freshman year. Ben earned our team's 3
month most consecutive days in a row
award. As a sophomore, Ben really grew as a runner. He set the pace in the summer running for the team and ran over 1000 miles. He earned our team's 1000 mile club award and 1000 York mile club award. Ben earned the title of captain his sophomore year. He opened up his season with a lifetime best of 17:36. This was a 31 second improvement off his best true 3 mile time. He earned a medal by placing 23rd in the 13 team invitational. Ben helped our varsity team win the invitational. He earned the 26th spot on our team's fastest top sophomore times list for the Charleston invitational. Ben improved 1:43 seconds from his time at the Charleston Invitational last year. Ben earned our team's most consecutive days in a row award for 1 year. Ben had another lifetime best at the SJO Spartan Classic where he ran a 17:04. His time was our fastest sophomore time for our team at this time of the season. Ben helped our varsity team win the meet. Ben ran a 17:46 at the Urbana meet. It was another solid race for him as he ran in the 17s for the 3rd time this season. Ben ran a 17:24 at the Conference meet. He helped his team win the Conference meet by placing 6th on the team. Ben earned a spot on our team's fastest sophomore times list at the Conference meet. He ran a 18:34 at the Monticello Invitational. Ben earned his second varsity cross country letter. Ben also earned a spot on our team's State series roster. Ben won our team's scholar athlete award. Ben ran well for us at the Sectional meet. He earned a spot on our team's fastest sophomore times at the Sectional meet list. He helped our team place 4th at the Sectional meet and qualify for the unofficial State meet. Ben was an essential part in our team placing 2nd in State. As a junior, |
