2018 News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October
As a freshman, Gabe joins our team with junior high cross country experience.  Gabe was very disciplined in his training over the summer before his freshman year.  He ran over 300 miles in the summer to earn our team's 300 mile club award.   Gabe opened up his high school career at the Charleston Invitational.  He ran a 20:45 to place 72nd in this varsity race.  Gabe ran a solid race at the Monticello triangular meet.  He ran a 21:11 to place 40th in the meet. Gabe ran a season best time of 20:29 at the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.  He had a 16 second improvement in that race.  He placed 332nd in the open race.  Gabe had a big improvement at the East Peoria Invitational.  He ran 3rd for his fresh/soph team helping lead them to a 4th place team finish.  He broke into the 18's with a 18:52.  He had a 37 second improvement from his previous season best.  Gabe ran strong enough to earn the 38th fastest spot on our team's fastest freshmen times list for the East Peoria Invitational. Gabe earned a spot on the News-Gazette Prep Cross Country Leaders List in October.  Gabe ran a 19:06 at the Metamora Invitational despite it being a muddy mess of a course.  He earned the 34th spot on our team's fastest freshmen times at the Metamora Invitational.  Gabe ran a 20:42 on a very hilly course at the Conference meet.  He helped pull his teammate Josh to the same time.  Gabe earned a spot on our team's State team roster his freshman year. Gabe earned our team's most consecutive days in a row 90 day award.

As a sophomore, Gabe had another great summer training under his belt.  He ran enough miles to earn our team's 400 mile club.  Gabe was sidelined with an injury his sophomore year.  He showed great loyalty to the team by showing up to practice to bike with the team and time the team on their interval days.  His strong character is shown in his loyalty to his teammates.  Gabe has amazing determination and commitment.  He earned our team's one year most consecutive days in a row award.  He is in the top 10 in the history of our program helping set a high standard for his teammates.

As a junior, Gabe came back strong after working through some injuries.  Gabe opened up his junior year with a lifetime best of 20:17.  He was runner up in our team's open race at the Charleston Invitational.  He was even stronger in his second race at the SJO Spartan classic.  He had another lifetime best of 18:48.  He improved more than anyone on our team.  His 1 minute and 29 second improvement was one of the bigger improvements I have seen in just 1 meet.  Gabe placed 5th in the SJO open race and helped his team win the meet.  Gabe ran another lifetime best at the Urbana meet. He cut off 31 seconds to run an 18:17.  He had a tremendous race and won the flight #7 race with a big lead over the 2nd place finisher.  Gabe ran 18:29 at the Conference meet.   Gabe and his teammates won the open race with a perfect score.  They placed 1st through 7th.  Gabe ran a lifetime best at the Monticello Invitational where he broke into the 17s for the first time.  He ran a 17:57 cutting 20 more seconds off his best.  He helped his team win the open race.  Gabe earned a varsity letter his junior year.

   As a senior,
