 PRE-SEASON NEWS
Austin Beck ran an impressive 700 miles over the summer.   That is an average of 9.5 miles per day.  Jacob Mahaffey ran over 600 miles. John Butcher, Elijah Johnson, Lucas Prather, and Henry Wolf ran over 300 miles.

Tray Kipp has run a streak of over 360 days in a row.  He has committed himself to running at least 1 mile a day for each of those 360 plus days.

XC SEASON NEWS
Sectional:
The boys placed 7th out of 20 teams.  This is the highest place that our team has achieved in the 12 years our team has been double A.  Jacob Mahaffey placed 6th which is the highest place an individual on our team has placed in 8 years.  Jacob advanced to State which will be run this coming weekend at Peoria.  Jacob is the 4th individual to qualify for state in the past 12 years.  Jacob Mahaffey and John Prillaman ran in the 15's.  We have only had 5 runners in the past 8 years to do this.  Lucas Prather ran a season best of 16:42.  Henry Wolf, Austin Beck and John Butcher also ran in the 16's.  Matthew Schaap ran a solid race at 17:10.  Sectional Results.
Team Spirit

The Fall Awards Night has been tentatively set for Monday, November 10 at 7:00 pm.

 WINTER WARRIORS RUNNING CLUB
The winter running club starts the day after cross country ends.  It is an informal running club intended to keep the group motivated and running in the off-season. The group meets in the locker room after school.  Anyone is welcome to join. The winter running club is run by our runners.  Winter Wariors Running Club.

Check out the alumni page updates.  Thanks to a few alumni that lent me their high school scrap books, we were able to updates over 200 pages.

I am in search of old meet records, team pictures, end of the year awards programs. If you have any that you would be willing to let me copy, please call or email me to let me know.

A special thanks to past team spirit winners, Thomas Thoren and Joe Logan for coming out to support our team in the season opener.

Andrew Kumler (2008 graduate) recently placed 4th in the Arthur 5K in September with a strong time of 18:14.

Dustin Kinkelaar (2008 graduate) recently ran the fastest 3 mile time out of his company during a bootcamp training run.  He ran a 17:20 to beat over 700 other tough marines.


COLLEGE UPDATES

Justin Sebens (2007 Alumni) is running his second year of XC and track for Carthage College this season.  
Justin ran as high as #3 for his team and in the 25's for 5 miles during his freshman year.  Justin also had a great track season where he excelled in the steeple chase.
As a sophomore, Justin ran a season opener of 27:03 where he ran 3rd for his team.

Carthage College men’s cross country team, ranked ninth in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association pre-season Midwest Regional poll, opens its 2008 season.
