Mahomet-Seymour has very supportive teachers.  Many of our teachers go out of their way to help our student/athletes on a daily basis.  Our team appreciates the hard work they do and invites them to join us in a fun run.  Our teachers do a great job of running on little training.  Teachers and parents are given the option of either running 1 mile, 2 miles, or 3 miles.  Our boys team is divided into equal groups to race against the teachers/parents team.

2011 Teacher/Parent Team Members

Debbie Butcher Mother of John Butcher.  Ran cross country and track for Illinois State University.  She has run the Chicago Marathon three times with a best time of 3:28.  She most recently qualified for the 2012 Boston Marathon.  2009 Teacher Fun Run fastest female award winner.  2010 teacher fun run fastest female in the 3 mile award winner.  3rd year teacher fun run competitor.

Jeff Butcher Father of  John Butcher.  Has run a 3:27 marathon at the Chicago Marathon.  He most recently ran the 2011 Illinois Marathon.  2009 Teacher Fun Run fastest father  award winner.  2010 teacher fun run fsatest parent in the 3 mile award winner.  3rd year teacher fun run competitor.
Julie Cebulski Mother of Nathaniel Cebulski. 1st year participant in the teacher/parent run fun.

 Gary Garrison Former counselor, social studies teacher, football coach, basketball coach, and track coach for SJO.  Coached 2 State Championship track teams.  Former Illinois State University Track Runner.  Currenly coaches track for Mahomet-Seymour High School.  Trains daily.  Most recently ran the St Joe 5K.  2004 Teacher Fun Run award winner for being the fastest former ISU track star.  2005 and 2006 Teacher Fun Run award winner for fastest retired teacher.  2007 Teacher Fun Run award winner for fastest retired teacher to run that far in over 4 decades.  2008 Teacher Fun Run  fastest former SJO coach.  2009 teacher fun run fastest grandfather/grandson award winner. 7th year teacher fun run competitor.  

Grant Garrison 2nd grade student.  He has future plans to be a myth buster.  He ran a race at age 2 to win the goodie bag that was given to kids that raced.  Rarimuri.  He ran a few 5 K races in the past year.  2009 teacher fun run rarimruri award winner. 2nd year teacher fun run competitor.

Neal Garrison MS High School Guidance Counselor and Cross Country Coach.  Owner of a great dane named Tiny.  Neal's wife was in the top 7 of her college cross country team at EIU.  Neal's wife also coached XC for 1 year at St Joe jr high. After winning State she retired.  Neal enjoys running any race no matter what distance the race is.  2004Teacher Fun Run award winner for being the fastest former volleyball coach.  2005 - 2010 Teacher Fun Run fastest counselor award winner.  8th year teacher fun run competitor.  

Stephanie Middendorf Mother of Daniel Middendorf.  2010 teacher fun run fastest parent of a freshman award winner.  2nd year teacher fun run competitor.

Daren Prather Father of superstar runner Lucas Prather.  Most recently competed in several area 5K races.  2010 teacher fun run fasest parent in the 1 mile award winner.   2nd year teacher fun run competitor.

Craig Russell  Father of Ethan Russell. 1st year participant in the teacher/parent run fun.

Paul Schaap Area doctor by profession and father of running superstars Jonathan, Matthew, and Hannah Schaap.  Boosters Cross Country representative (along with his wife Lori).  Lifelong runner and area age group superstar. In 2009, he raced the Wilderness run just 3 days before the teacher fun run and placing 2nd in his division.  He ran his first marathon in 2010 at the Illinois Marathon with a time of 4:20.  He  recently ran the 8 hour howl at the moon race and completed over 34 miles.  2009 Teacher Fun Run fastest doctor award winner.  3nd year teacher fun run competitor..

Brian Schwartzentraub MS High School business teacher.  He was an Illinois Wesleyan University Football and Baseball player.  He has run a half marathon.  He was the 2007 teacher fun run fastest business teacher award winner.  2nd year participant in the teacher fun run.

2011 Teacher/Parent Fun Run Results       The boys from the XC team were divided into equal teams.  The teachers/parents had a separate team.  The teachers were given the option of running either 1 , 2,or 3 miles.
